Rio was carried all the way from Datum Earth as a pup by a trader.[2] Nikos was very attached to her and went down in the cellar hole behind the Poulson place to look for Rio, who fell while chasing a dwarf racoon, despite his fear.
It was thanks to this event that the silver beetles were rediscovered (being discovered the first time by Cassie Poulson).
Rio died in 2058 and was buried on Earth West 1,217,756.[3]
